Interactive classroom displays are often referred to as front-of-class technology. This technology for the classroom is usually a large screen display connected, sometimes wirelessly, to a teacher’s computer to deliver lesson content. They are the evolution of interactive technology for schools that started with the replacement of traditional whiteboards with interactive whiteboards and then moved to interactive displays. They are used for collaboration, lesson delivery, general teaching, and to promote interactivity.
The main differences between an interactive whiteboard and multi touch screen are that the multi touch screens cannot be written on with a whiteboard marker. There are also less maintenance costs with a multi touch screen because they do not incorporate filters that need to be cleaned or lamps that need to be replaced compared to a data projector required for an interactive whiteboard.
To connect your multi touch screen to your computer, there are two cables that are required, a VGA cable and a USB cable. The VGA cable supplies the video signal to the screen and the USB cable provides the interactivity connection between the multi touch screen and the computer.
Plug one end of the VGA cable into the VGA socket on the rear panel of the screen and the other into the computer. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the socket labelled Touch USB on the rear panel of the screen and the other (flat) end of the USB into your computer.
Note: Some installations may use a HDMI cable instead of a VGA cable, in this instance, plug into the HDMI socket on the rear panel instead.
Interactive Whiteboard
Our Interactive Whiteboards can be used with your finger or a stylus. No special pens are required so there is nothing to lose or replace. No batteries are required for the stylus.

Plug one end of the VGA cable into the wall point and the other into the computer. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the wall point and the other (flat) end of the USB into your computer.
Note: The instructions above assume that a wall plate is being used for the installation; some installations may use a HDMI cable instead of a VGA cable.
To calibrate using a Windows 7 or higher computer, go to Control Panel and then Hardware and Sound. Under Tablet PC Settings, select Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input. Once Calibrate is selected, depending on your system, you may be asked by the system controller whether you allow the program to make changes to your computer. Select Yes then follow the instructions on the screen.
Use the supplied microfibre cloth, dampen with water if needed. For stubborn marks, spray Windex onto the microfibre cloth first then wipe the surface. Avoid using any harsh abrasives as these can damage the whiteboard surface.
Although the Interactive Whiteboard is not designed for use with permanent markers, should someone write with one on the board, use a regular dry-erase marker, scribble back and forth over the permanent marker ink and eraser. You will see it gradually disappear. Repeat if necessary.
